DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the overall guidance of the FAO Representative in Yemen and supervision of the international consultantGEF project development specialist the incumbent shallnbsp
bullnbspnbsp nbspLiaise and coordinate with the national authorities and other stakeholders to actively participate in the analysis of the status and effects of invasive plants in the country and in identifying the gaps and areas of assistance needednbsp
bullnbspnbsp nbspUpon the request of the international consultant collect compile and initially analyze current reports studies legislations and policies related to environmental protection and other related areas.
bullnbspnbsp nbspAssist in organizing the field mission of the international consultant and set up the meetings with the stakeholders.
bullnbspnbsp nbspAssist in the identification and drafting of existing barriers to addressing the threats optionsactivities for addressing these and opportunities to achieving global environmental benefits related to biodiversity protectionnbsp
bullnbspnbsp nbspAssist in the preparation of project proposal and action plan for effective and economically feasible and sustainable management of the invasive plants.nbsp
bullnbspnbsp nbspEnsure that the prepared project and action plan are in line with medium to long term national policies and strategies as well as FAO principles in promoting sustainable natural resource management and environmental protection
bullnbspnbsp nbspMaintain close collaboration with all related ministries the Environment Protection Authority and other government and nongovernmental key stakeholders including Civil Society Organizations who will be involved in institutional arrangements for project formulation and implementation.
bullnbspnbsp nbspAt the end of the mission submit a final report of the mission in Englishnbsp
bullnbspnbsp nbspPerform any other tasks requested by the FAOR and line managers.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
bullnbspnbsp nbspAdvanced university degree with specialization in plant protection or related field.nbsp
bullnbspnbsp nbspMinimum five years of relevant experience in the field of plant and environmental protection in Yemen.nbsp
bullnbspnbsp nbspAbility to work within a team of professional staff from diverse technical and cultural backgrounds.nbsp

bullnbspnbsp nbspDemonstrated capacity to plan advise and guide planning processes on his field of work.nbsp
bullnbspnbsp nbspDemonstrated ability to implement a variety of analytical methodologies and techniques.nbsp
bullnbspnbsp nbspDemonstrated ability to liaise with multiple agencies effectively building an understanding and partnership with other UN bodies NGOs and governmental agencies.
bullnbspnbsp nbspAbility to plan organize implement and report.
bullnbspnbsp nbspExcellent nbspcommunication writing and presentation skills in English.
