Position Overview:
Reporting to the Director, Information and Communication Technology, the successful candidate for this role will provide day to day server administration on any and all server-based services at UCQ including but not limited to DHCP, DNS, general Windows server-based services, web services, SharePoint, Microsoft SQL Server, digital signage, and Microsoft-based media systems. The incumbent liaises with infrastructure staff in the administration of the operating systems that provide these services and in the building and maintaining of servers, operating systems, and most especially the application services themselves. A primary focus of the position is SharePoint including roles and permissions, site creation, site and document security and SharePoint Designer.
Working cooperatively in a team environment within the Information Technology group of the University of Calgary in Qatar (UCQ), the Systems Administrator works on a significant number of moderately complex, diverse projects and must be able to accommodate changing priorities, multiple and often simultaneous deadlines, occasional overtime is a required to meet deadlines.
This position will also provide technical support, software support and troubleshooting for the Faculty of Nursing - Qatar as delegated by the Director of Information Technology. Furthermore, the ideal candidate should be able to start immediately, preferably during the week of June 12, 2016.
Accountabilities:
Server Administration
• Administer SharePoint services including roles, permissions, and content creation including the use of InfoPath forms
• Use SharePoint Designer to customize SharePoint-based applications
• Administer UCQ's Microsoft SQL Server environment in support of applications that require SQL Server as the back end.
• Manage UCQ's Digital Signage System by publishing content, designing pages, and supporting users of the system.
• Participate in the day to day administration of any new Windows based services that are developed by UCQ.
Technical Support
• Provide computer/printer support and trouble-shooting for the Faculty.
• Install and maintain computers as required by the Director of Information Technology.
• Act as an information resource providing teaching/research aids or materials and assistance to the faculty for computer based concerns.
• Provide software support and teaching for Faculty, Staff and Students.
