Position Summary
Freedom House seeks a Country Director for an anticipated project in Tunisia, Supporting Local Engagement in Tunisia's Political Process. This project, funded by the U.S. Department of State, will strengthen Tunisia's political processes and foster citizen engagement at the local level by 1) expanding civic and voter education efforts with a focus on women, youth, and marginalized communities, and 2) building the capacity of domestic election observers and watchdog groups.
The Country Director, who will be based in Tunis for the duration of the project (18-24 months), will be responsible for overall program management, including providing leadership to ensure that the program achieves its stated objectives, ensuring adequate communications with the funding agency, and identifying and mitigating any program risks. This position will be based in Tunis and will report to the Vice President for Programs.
Note: This position is contingent on funding.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Working with a Freedom House home office director, develop a realistic project work plan and oversee implementation of that work plan, completing all technical requirements, including project results and deliverables, on time and within budget
Retain and manage a small project team including technical experts and administrative staff
Provide direct technical expertise in civil society strengthening to achieve project objectives
Work directly with local partners and beneficiaries to achieve project objectives
Maintain excellent working relationships with U.S. Government entities, project partners, and key stakeholders
Manage the project's operational, financial, and administrative priorities
Direct the planning and budgeting processes and report against the project's budgetary targets
Oversee the preparation of quarterly and annual project activity reports and other deliverables, as specified in the funding agreement
Travel throughout Tunisia on a regular basis
