The incumbent of this position is
charged with carrying out all aspects of interior design within the Facilities
Development Department, including coordination, monitoring and supervision of
professional design services
and the standard of work delivered by external
consultants. This position is responsible for ensuring that expected design
outcomes, technical, and budget criteria are met. The Director is expected to
be capable of assuming responsibility and initiative on all essential functions
and duties in carrying out, coordinating, and exercising functional authority
for planning, organization, control, and integration and completion of design
projects. The incumbent is also responsible to maintain close
collaboration with other staff in to ensure that the organization's strategic
and operational objectives are met. • Provide professional interior design
services to new build and refurbishment capital projects, and maintain design
technical, quality, and health and safety standards. • Develop and lead the
interior design team which will include health/medical planner, architectural
and civil/construction engineering skill.• Receive and develop user Department
project briefs in conjunction with the Medical/ hospital/ Health Planner and
undertake the lead role, working with users to develop proof of concept,
functional briefing and the feasibility studies required prior to design
development and the further stages of the capital works procurement process.•
Work within the processes and policies established to govern Capital works
procurement specifically the Terms of Reference and operational guidelines of
the Facilities Development Steering Committee.• Coordinate evaluate consultancy
services tenders. Develop interior design project plans in conjunction with the
project planner • Contribute to the development of the Facilities Development
Department standard operating policies and procedures, including recommending
improvements and standardization of working practices developing and
implementing CAD data base, constructive problem solving business planning and
coaching other team members, in order to reflect best practice and the
requirements of best value.
