Description
FHI 360 is
seeking an Industry Engagement Specialist for an anticipated USAID funded
Egypt University Centers for Career Development Program. This program is
expected to establish a minimum of 20 operational and financially sustainable
University Centers for Career Development UCCD in up to 20 Egyptian public
universities in Greater Cairo Upper Egypt and the Delta region. The UCCD will
improve the long term capacity of Egyptian public universities to assist
students in their transition from college to work. Activities include career
guidance training technical assistance sub grants provision of equipment and
supplies and operational costs as well as equipment software and communications
technology.
This
position will be based in Egypt in a location to be determined with regular
travel to Greater Cairo Upper Egypt and the Delta region.
Job
Summary Responsibilities
The
Industry Engagement Specialist will serve as a liaison between private sector
stakeholders and career centers and develop and coordinate services and
activities across the centers in Greater Cairo Upper Egypt and the Delta
region. The Industry Engagement Specialist will work closely with both the UCCD
Senior Management team in Cairo and the FHI 360 team in Washington DC to ensure
that FHI 360 delivers a relevant and adaptable training program and provides
value adding technical support to the program.
Ideally
this person has served in the capacity of a private sector partnership
development advisor for other development programs and workforce programs in
Egypt. S he should have extensive experience working in or with direct
engagement with the private sector. Experience working with career centers to
achieve employability and or employment outcomes is preferred.
The Industry Engagement Specialist will assume the following job responsibilities and associated tasks
- Serve as a liaison between key stakeholders including the prime implementer private sector firms educational institutions USAID and other implementing partners
- Develop linkages with the private sector and employers in collaboration with project staff
- Provide technical expertise and input into the development of the UCCDs including the co development of market relevant products and services
- Work with UCCD staff and the Chief of Party to start up and maintain UCCDs at up to twenty public universities in Greater Cairo Upper Egypt and the Delta region
- With support of FHI 360 and project staff oversee establishment and maintenance of system for mapping and analyzing labor market needs in each of the regions in which the project works and build the capacity of UCCD staff by overseeing formal training and on going coaching on industry analysis and developing capacity building plans
- Work with UCCD staff and Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Supreme Council of Universities and Ministry of Finance to promote the UCCD model
- Work with UCCD staff to ensure a successful transition of these centers into sustainable career centers that function as research units
- Serve as FHI 360's point person in Egypt
- Supervise FHI 360 staff in Egypt
- Advise UCCDs FHI 360 prime implementer and partners on development and implementation of student and graduate tracking system
- Conduct ongoing monitoring and evaluation of career
centers' work
Contribute to program reporting - Ensure that all activities are in compliance with USAID FHI360 and other applicable policies and regulations
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree required in business administration economics political science international development or another relevant field from an accredited university . An advanced degree is preferred.
- At least 7 years of experience in advisory partnership building roles ideally including international development in private sector development workforce development and or higher education programs.
- Private sector experience either directly or managing relationships with businesses. Experience working with career centers and or university students is a plus.
- Entrepreneurial with a demonstrated ability to engage at senior levels in business and development sector contexts.
- Experience working with stakeholders across the public private and nonprofit sectors and an existing network of private sector contacts in Egypt to draw upon.
- Excellent knowledge of the Egyptian labor market particularly the employment landscape for university graduates.
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to find viable solutions to complicated problems in a flexible time sensitive and creative manner.
- Strong team player with demonstrated ability to positively motivate team members to success.
- Demonstrated understanding of and passion for youth workforce development. Deep appreciation for youth energy leadership and entrepreneurial spirit.
- Fluent in written and spoken Egyptian Arabic. English

Responsibilities
Within delegated authority the
Administrative Officer will be responsible for the following duties HUMAN

Education
Advanced university degree Master's

Work Experience

resources management or related field. Experience in a field operation is
highly desirable. Experience managing the administration of a multi component
organizational unit at the international level is highly desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working
languages of the United Nations. For this position fluency both oral and
written in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an
advantage.
