Handicap International first worked in Yemen between 1995 and 2005 including in the fields of leprosy and physical rehabilitation. The new mission started in March 2015 and is the 5th â??country missionâ?
HIâ??s objective in Yemen is to ensure support to victims of Conventional Weapons CW and improve access to urgent and comprehensive rehabilitation to them to persons with Disabilities women men girls and boys and to persons with burn injuries in Sanaâ??a and Aden. The project has two main components
â?? Address urgent needs and bring a concrete response to affected populations in particular through direct support to existing key health facilities in bringing quality response to patients from the whole country
â?? Pave the way for sustaining disability inclusion within the humanitarian response.

Objectives of the position
The Projectâ??s Psychosocial Technical Advisor for the â??Rehabilitation and Victim assistanceâ?
Under the direct management of the project manager and with the support of the Regional Technical Unit the position contributes in the successful implementation of quality activities by
â?? Ensuring technical support to the project in the field of Psychosocial support
â?? Assessing the technical competencies of HI staff and partners in hisher area of competencies
â?? Supporting the organisation and implementation of appropriate training programmes for HI staff and partners
â?? Supporting the development of HIâ??s expertise in Psychosocial support services in difficult environment
Responsibilities
â?? Identify assess amp mobilize CBOs and other resources engaged in psychosocial support for the rehabilitation centresâ?? users and develop agreements for the provision of psychosocial support to the centersâ?? users and their families
â?? Lead the assessment of training needs among volunteerssocial workers and other health team members to develop and enforce a responsive capacity building plan. Conduct trainings and provide mentorship and coaching as needed.
â?? Assess the impact of the Psychosocial support provided upon beneficiaries and their families
â?? Support the emergence of psychosocial peer groups amongst burn CW survivors and persons with disabilities
â?? Regularly monitor and report on the progress of project activities as requested by the Project Manager to ensure that the project is implemented according to project plans and timelines
â?? Contribute to the development and visibility of the HI Yemen Country Programme
â?? Support collection of lessons learnt for Strategic Programme Development
PROFIL
Qualifications
â?? Advanced degree in psychology or equivalent
â?? Additional sociallegal studies qualifications or development human rights background an asset
Experience
â?? Minimum 3 yearsâ?? experience in the disability emergency or and development field
â?? Experience in psychosocial support and mental health
â?? Experience in technical representation and networking skills at different level national regional and local
Competencies
â?? Technical competencies and proven experience in psychosocialmental health
â?? Capacity building coaching and mentoring skills
â?? Good capacities in organization and coordination.
â?? Capacity to formalize tools and lessons learnt documents
Personal qualities
â?? Strong ability to work autonomously combined with a high level of team approach and efficient reporting to the management
â?? Proactive solution oriented strongly positive constructive and dynamic personality
â?? Excellent communication skills essential to ensure cohesion with the other project staff and partners
