The Assignment Editor,
Content assigns original content in a variety of journalistic forms to a team
of overseas reporters. The incumbent leads reporters in creating quality
content that adhere to MBN's journalistic policies and practices. Incumbent
selects, edits, packages, assigns and approves content designed to engage audience
and stimulate discussion of critical issues as proscribed by the Managing
Editor.
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Assignment Editor, Content include, but are not limited to:
- Assigning creation of original content in a variety of journalistic forms, including video, written and alternative engagement content (polls, lists, surveys, interactive maps, UGC, data visualization) designed to build engagement.
- Selecting, editing, and approving all content in a timely and balanced style in adherence to MBN's Journalistic Code of Ethics.
- Ensuring all material to be published is accurate, well organized and grammatically correct including news scripts, photographs, features and interviews.
- Monitoring regional websites, online trends and analytics data to develop topics and content to engage audiences.
- Acting as a video producer including packaging content received from Reporters into finished pieces
- Publishing content to website and social media
- Working collaboratively and consistently with the other Assignment Editors and teams to maximize impact of content across social platforms.
- Immediately alerting senior management of any published mistakes and follows proscribed protocols for timely correction.
- Leading and motivating team to ensure quality and timely content.
- Motivating, monitoring performance, and providing feedback to team members to ensure quality and consistency of content.
- Immediately taking measures to correct any publication errors on the Digital products; then reviewing processes to identify cause of error to eliminate future occurrences.
Coordinates closely with technical team.
