The Assignment Editor,
Community is responsible for discussion on Facebook and other platforms and
ensures conversation is civil and adheres to MBN's comment and community
policies. The incumbent monitors and leads community managers to ensure content
maximizes audience
engagement with MBN's target digital audience. The
Assignment Editor exercises sound editorial judgment and works to create an
active engagement to stimulate discussion and exchange on critical issues.
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Assignment Editor, Community include, but are not limited to:
- Overseeing social media discussion across platforms according to MBN standards.
- Assigning the creation of original engagement content to community managers.
- Guiding and leading team to utilize services such as YouTube, Google, Facebook, Twitter, and others to tell stories most effectively and to increase engagement.
- Ensuring adherence to MBN's editorial standards of balance and objectivity.
- Leading to encourage innovation and creative thinking of new story forms, editorial campaigns, and alternative approaches to improve our strategy.
- Guiding content placement strategy in order to maximize impact.
- Motivating, monitoring performance, and providing feedback to team members to ensure quality, timeliness and consistency of content.
- Ensuring that copyright restrictions are respected in selecting and editing multimedia enhancements, including still photos, graphics and audio files to accompany news text.
- Coordinating closely with members of the social media and technical support team; promptly brings technical and equipment problems to their attention; provides concise and accurate descriptions of problems; works with support team to implement solutions in the best problem-solving manner.
- Immediately alerting senior management of any published mistakes and follows proscribed protocols for timely correction.
