The Entertianment
Producer is responsible for the creative development, production, content
quality of assigned programs; constructing fresh, informative, creative,
compelling shows, summaries, updates and assigned special event coverage,
ensuring balanced content consist with the mission goals of the company.
- Maintaining the creative vision, look and feel of programs aligned with the departments' vision. Producer works under Senior Producer helping create each 3 hour show.
- Producer should be groomed to become a Senior Producer.
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Entertainment Producer include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinating with Senior Producers and selecting timely news and information, features, live coverage and studio guests.
- Assisting Senior Producer prepare for each 3 hour show in every manner.
- Writing stories as directed.
- Participating in editorial meetings.
- Understanding and staying updated on the major stories of the day and their relationship to the company mission and viewers and relationship to feature stories.
- Preparing reports and substituting for the Anchor when needed.
- Helping review scripts.
- Obtaining legal and editorial clearances from Senior Producers, Supervising Producer.
- Ensuring that all additional production details are completed including; graphics, chyrons, etc.
- Providing Control Room with critical information regarding the timing, content and execution of live shots while program is on-air.
- Following commands of Senior Supervising Producer in the control room when breaking news is on the air.
- Pursuing breaking news and assisting Assignment Desk and other newscast producers during coverage of breaking news.
- Conducting final review of show content to ensure a clean broadcast.
- Ensuring that assigned programs are MOS active fifteen minutes prior to air time.
- Researching and editing relevant program footage for use in rundowns and social media.
- Posting and updating on social media platforms.
- Assisting in gathering elements for the daily show per Senior Producer.
- Contributing story ideas on a daily, weekly and long-range basis.
