February 12, 2015 to February 28, 2018. Focusing on the Zarqa and Balqa Governorates in Jordan, this project will promote better water governance, stronger institutional accountability and improved environmental sustainability while ensuring that the specific needs and capacities of women are addressed. In line with the Syria Regional Response Plan (RRP 6), the principal objective of this initiative is to improve water resource management in the Zarqa and Balqa so that all Jordanian, Syrian, and Palestinian residents are able to realize their water rights and responsibilities in a sustainable manner. This will be achieved by working closely with relevant water directorates to rehabilitate and improve existing water infrastructure and increase the technical skill set of key personnel in the water directorate while investing in activities to increase community awareness on water conservation and household and communal water management.
