Director of Facilities Management, the individual will be responsible for
acting as the Organization's lead competent person for health & safety and
fire safety.

Description
- To ensure the
Organization's Health & Safety Policy and Fire Safety Policy is implemented
consistently across the organization.- To assist in the development and, where
require, draft health & safety and fire safety procedures and standard
operating practices.- To monitor, evaluate and review health & safety and
fire safety policy and practice, make recommendations to improve and implement
new policies and procedures as required.- To assist in the identification of
training needs for employees and develop and deliver training as required to
meet these needs.- To advise the senior management team on the implications of
current and emerging, health & safety and fire safety legislation,
including evaluation of options, making recommendations and generating action
plans to ensure compliance across the organization.- To support managers to
maintain safe systems, providing specialist advice, coaching and practical
support.- To assist managers implementing health and safety systems and
procedures to meet specific requirements such as accident reporting and hazard
identification and management in a consistent and effective manner.- To ensure
the organization and its contractors/consultants comply with relevant
legislation and good industry practice relating to the design and construction
of new facilities and adaptation of existing facilities.- To carry out audits
to confirm the implementation and compliance with health & safety and fire
safety systems and procedures, including conducting fire drills and test procedures
as appropriate, and identifying and implementing improvements.- To ensure that
routine health and safety activities and checks are carried out (e.g.
maintenance/testing of equipment, reviewing risk assessments and work place
inspections), properly documented and actions followed up.- To investigate and
where appropriate assist others to investigate the circumstances and causes of
accidents and take necessary steps to prevent recurrence.- To take action to
mitigate the impact and likelihood of health & safety and fire safety
risks.- To coordinate the issuing of notifications where required by relevant
statutory bodies.- To prepare regular reports on compliance and activity for
presentation to senior management and the Health & Safety Committee.- To assist
the Organization's security team to carry out investigations into incidents of
violence or aggression towards staff, visitors and/or guest/clients.- To
participate in the Organization's risk management activities as specified in
the Risk Management Policy.- Other duties as required.
Profile
- Must be bilingual -
Arabic and English- Ability to live and work in Qatar- Bachelor's Degree or
equivalent acquired through training and experience is essential.- 7 years +
experience working in a management capacity- Specialized knowledge of health
and safety and fire safety systems and legislation is highly desirable.-
Previous experience of implementing Health Safety and Fire policy and
procedure- Post graduate qualification in H&S or Fire safety (e.g. NEBOSH)
is highly desirable..
